Key new features of avast! Professional Edition
The new version of avast! Professional Edition has been designed to provide extremely effective antivirus protection with a virus detection rate of nearly 100%. Avast's great stability along with its exceptional detection capabilities and small system memory usage make it perfect for use with even the most demanding systems. The antivirus engine provides excellent support for compressed files (ZIP, ARJ, RAR, TAR, GZIP etc.) and can even scan inside compressed files.

What are the main advantages of avast! Professional Edition?
In addition to the basic functions of avast! family version (limited to non commercial home usage), avast! Professional Edition has two extra modules which increase protection for your computers.
Script Blocker
Avast! Professional Edition's resident protection includes an extra module not included in the Family Edition called the script blocker. This module controls all scripts executed on the operating system (scripts known as WSH - Windows Script Host) and scans all scripts executed on a web page opened by an internet browser (Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer etc.)
PUSH updates
PUSH updates are a special function of the Professional Edition. It is a very important change in how antivirus updates are carried out. Normally, each program installed on a computer regularly checks for updates. Avast PUSH updates are however launched directly by our servers; they rapidly reach your computer and are installed instantly carrying out necessary updates. The system is based on the SMTP protocole (the same protocole used for normal e-mails). The update itself is controlled by avast! services (MS Outlook and Email). PUSH system is protected by assymetrical encryption preventing fraudulent use of the protocole.
As well as these two modules, the Professional Edition also has two distinct user interfaces: a simple user interface and an enhanced user interface (not available with the free version), giving you access to all functions for an extensive scan (scan plan, configuration...).
